Car of the month - BMW 6 Series The BMW 6 series is our car of the month for February and for good reason. It is a practical, yet fun-to-drive machine that gives you both comfort and thrills. Who wouldn’t want it in their garage? Well, not us. The BMW 6 Series is a four-seater luxury car that costs between Rs. 68.50 and Rs. 79.50 lakh ex-showroom. It comes in three models, three BS6-compliant engine options, and a single automatic transmission. It has a wide range of engine alternatives, which might help you find one that is better suited to your driving style.
Both petrol and diesel engines are available for the BMW 6 Series GT. The 630i M Sport has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 258PS and 400Nm of torque, while the 620d Luxury Line has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 190PS and 400Nm of torque. A 3.0-litre in-line six- cylinder diesel engine with 265PS and 620Nm torque powers the top-spec 630d M Sport. A standard 8-speed automatic transmission is included with all the variants. The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo comes standard with air suspension, which strikes a decent mix between comfort and handling. The big 6 isn't the sharpest BMW, but it's still fun to drive. The power and torque figures equate to a 0-100kmph time of 6.5 seconds, with the 6 cylinder diesel expected to shave another second off that time.
