The 12.3-inch touchscreen, which serves as the whole control hub for the vehicle, is the major talking point inside. Shortcut buttons, steering controls, and a track pad controller, which were present in the previous version, will be welcomed by those who enjoy utilising physical buttons. Lexus provides built-in navigation, and the ES finally supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto. A three zone climate control, roller blinds on the windows and rear windscreen, and infotainment control buttons, in addition to the abundance of cabin space, supportive seats, and a reclining feature for the back rest, add to the comfort of rear seat occupants.
The ES 300h is powered by a petrol-hybrid drivetrain that produces a combined 218 horsepower and is coupled to an eCVT that sends power to the front wheels. It sets off in full electric mode and can be driven quietly and smoothly at city speeds. The ES 300h drives and handles like a dream thanks to 202Nm of torque and the pretty good electronics that make it corner well. The Lexus ES features a surprising amount of athletic prowess in addition to a superb riding quality. However, it's not really a sports sedan. When driving more spiritedly, the steering seems somewhat numb, and the wood-trimmed wheel is uncomfortable to grip. With an abundance of low-end torque, the hybrid powertrain is pleasantly snappy when driving around town. Even though it loses some steam at the top end when pushed on a more difficult road, it is still fun to drive.
